Data Science

10 AM - 11 AM PDT

Speaker: Sandeep Sainath

Sandeep recently graduated from UC Berkeley with majors in Data Science and Economics and a minor in Statistics. As an Indian who grew up in Saudi Arabia, Sandeep has always championed diversity in both experiences and thought - so naturally, data science is one of his biggest passions! He intends to continue pursuing his career goal of being a Data Scientist by attending Georgia Tech to obtain an M.S. in Analytics in the Fall. In his free time, Sandeep loves playing the piano and guitar, developing his cooking skills, and spending too much time on YouTube watching sport highlights and analysis videos.

Machine Learning

Speaker: Karthik Mohan

Dr. Karthik Mohan did his Phd from University of Washington, Seattle with a specialization in Machine Learning.

Karthik has worked at top tech companies in the past including Amazon and Facebook and currently is also

teaching a Machine Learning course at Udub, Seattle. Outside of work, he loves to paddle board, hike and facilitate workshops on stress management.

Speaker: Jose Zelada

Jose is the Educational Technology Specialist at Slauson Academy. He attended CSULA, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Learnings. He began teaching where he knew he could make a difference. In the classroom, Jose became aware of the widening gap in 21st-century skills within his students' colleges and parents so he went back to school in hopes to help close that gap. He received his M.A in Education with an emphasis on leadership and technology. He has worked as a freelancer for several nonprofit organizations creating curriculum as well as creating specific training and onboarding experiences in the corporate world. He has worked in the nonprofit sector as a Media and Design specialist, where he created digital learning tools for youth. Now he has the pleasure of working with Slauson Academy as an ETS. He is committed to empowering youth, parents, and educators in underserved communities to become 21st-century digital citizens. In his free time he enjoys any type of adventure if it helps him disconnect a bit. Hiking, biking, camping, playing sports going to the beach and more. He also loves to do whatever he can to help give back to the community which is why he founded RYP_Adventures where they like to go on adventures build positive relationships, focus on physical and mental wellness, while focusing on humanitarian aid.

Game Design

Speaker: Chris Muriel

Chris Muriel is a Game Designer who lives in San Diego. He works for PlayStation in the MLB The Show series. He studied a Bachelor's degree in Animation and Digital Arts in Mexico City. After that, he moved to LA to pursue his dream of becoming a Game Designer by studying a Graduate in Interactive Media at The University of Southern California. He has a german shepherd called Zelda because of his favorite game of all time. In his free time he creates videos for his Youtube channel that teach aspiring Game Designers the basics of Game Design. He also loves playing narrative driven games like Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls.
