Product Design with UX and UI
FREE | 6th-8th Grade | Saturdays 2-4 PM PST | 120 minutes
- Location 1
This class, Product Design through UX and UI, focuses on designing the structure, layout and aesthetic of apps and websites. There will be lessons on typography and color theory, however, much of the class will be hands-on work building wireframes, individual screens, prototypes, and designing actual projects. There will be little to no coding, however, we will delve a bit into the world of graphic design, as it is a much larger subject and needs to be looked at. Students, by the end of this class, will have a portfolio of eight to nine different works as well as the knowledge to create more. List of Topics: Typography, Color Theory, Layout, Designer History, and Lots and Lots of Actual Designing! Prerequisites: None Materials: Figma; Behance; Bullet Journal; Framer Teacher: Aadhav Saravanan, a freshman at Redmond High, originally got into UX/UI design when he accidentally signed up for an educational course instead of ‘History of Films’. Taking the class (this was back in seventh grade), he fell in love with the idea of creating beautifully aesthetic posters, apps, websites, and anything falling under graphic and product design, a widely-encompassing area of subjects. Now, two years after that fated misclick, he still designs on a regular basis, during numerous projects, taking part in the #DailyUI challenge, and submitting his work to frantically scoured competitions, usually just in the nick of time. Other than design, Aadhav voraciously swims six days a week, reads long novels at 2AM (insomnia is fun), drums, and self-deprecates in a way that can’t be healthy whatsoever. He really loves teaching, however, and plans to major in product design in college.
