Service Description

Students will learn the fundamentals of physics through fun exercises and demonstrations. During the first two weeks, students will learn about kinematics, vectors, and Newton’s laws. Students will be able to see and practice applying kinematic equations to real world situations. During the second half of this course, students will learn more complex topics, such as energy and momentum. This course will provide optional supplemental learning with interactive examples to help ensure effective teaching. After completing this course, students will be prepared to continue their learning towards more advanced topics, such as optics and thermodynamics. List of Topics: One Dimensional Kinematics, Vectors and Two Dimensional Kinematics Newton’s Laws of Motion, Work and Energy, Linear Momentum and Collisions, and Rotational Motion and Gravity Prerequisites: Algebra II Materials: Computer and Calculator (can be a computer/phone application) Teachers: Jamil is a hardworking junior at Skyline High School enrolled at Bellevue College through running. In college, he plans to major in Astrophysics. Outside of school he is an active member of his community, participating on the local youth and school boards. He has a passion for mathematics and is currently enrolled in Calculus III. During the weekend he is an instructor at Mathnasium. He has taken physics in 10th grade and will take Calculus-based physics in spring quarter. In his spare time he likes to bike, volunteer, and program. Matthew is a diligent junior at Skyline High School enrolled at Bellevue College through running start and intends to major in Architecture. He excels in mathematics and is currently enrolled in Calculus III. He loves to give back to his community and frequently volunteers for the Issaquah Mountain Bike Alliance, cleaning up local trails.
